Music festival “Prague autumn”

We are pleased to continue our tour through Prague autumn, and here we are again at the old town square, where twenty-seven white crosses remind about one of the saddest events in the history of the Czech Republic. In 1621 there was executed twenty-seven leaders of the Estates rebellion against the authority of the family of Habsburg and king Ferdinand II. Popular rumor has it that their ashes buried in the Church of the Holy Salvatorelli or in the walls of the Tyn Church.

The legend says that every year, on the day of his execution, the 21st June, the ghosts of the dead people can be seen next to the old tower. According to the legend, the ghosts of the murdered decided until the end of time to control the precision of the clock tower. If the clock is correct, then supposedly the Czech land is not in danger.

Strangely, some of our compatriots from the CIS countries have chosen this mournful place to conduct their marriage ceremonies. Autumn in Prague is the perfect time because in the middle of September in the Czech capital hosts the famous music festival “Prague autumn”. This year the festival “Prague autumn”, as always, will gather eminent participants. Honorary role at the opening of the festival, the 11th of September, given to the Orchestra “Russian Philharmonic”, operated by the renowned conductor Alexander Vedernikov will perform works by Czech authors: “Fantastic Scherzo” Josef Bitch Fourth Symphony and Bohuslav martinů.

In the evening guests “Prague autumn” will hear two fine works from the Treasury of Russian music — Concerto for piano and orchestra by Sergei Rachmaninoff and “Leningrad” Symphony of Dmitri Shostakovich. Everyone visiting Prague music lover should definitely visit the “Villa America”, which is a Museum of the most famous Czech composer — antonín dvořák. The Villa was built in the early XVIII century in Baroque style and was originally owned by the representative of the Bohemian aristocracy — Vaclav Mihnea, who spent the summer. In her lush chamber music was always played as an indispensable part of sophisticated home environment.

By visiting the Museum, you can see relics of the great Dvorak and collected his fans from around the world. From may to October in the music room at the Museum give concerts in the series “the Wonderful Dvorak”, composed of the best works of the composer. Museum visitors are greeted voluntary actors, dressed in costumes of the time, and each presented with a stack of unique Czech liqueur Becherovka. It is worth noting that in the Czech Republic is quite excellent performers, good orchestras and ensembles, the award-winning worldwide. And if the professional skills to make the ability to show fine details of music of local composers, we can assure that is not the world’s best performers of the works of Smetana, dvořák and janáček, than at the festival “Prague autumn”.

But not only the classic songs will delight your hearing visitors of the festival. This year the concert will feature favorite guest of the Czech capital – the famous Opera diva Galina Gorchakova. Gallina Gorchakov originally from the Urals and successfully graduated from the Conservatory in Novosibirsk, the singer debuted in Mariinskom theatre. After winning the “Covent garden” and “La Scala”, where a new star stunned the audience, performing part of Renata in the Opera “the Fiery angel”. The English Royal Academy of music awarded Galina the title of “singer of the year”, and in 2002, the World Association of music critics as the best soprano. Repertoire Gorchakova consists of more than 20 parties from Aida and Leonora Verdi to Volkhov and Fevronia. Galina Gorchakova acts in the best theatres of Europe – London’s “Covent garden”, “Grand Opera” in Paris, the Munich Opera.
